New State of the Art AAC Plant in Tianjin Binhai

AAC Plant in Tianjin Binhai New District

A Photo of the construction of what will soon be the largest AAC Plant in the world

The photo shown is of a construction site of a state-of-the-art AAC (Autoclaved Aerated Concrete) plant in Tianjin Binhai New District. The plant was jointly sold by Transcontinental and Wehrhahn GmbH, the global market leader in AAC plants.

When the plant begins operating in November of this year, it will be able to produce 600,000 cu.m./a high quality AAC products (low density wall building materials) and will be the largest AAC plant in the world. The product is aimed to serve the booming housing development in the area around Tianjin, a municipality near Beijing and one of the special economic zones established in the mainland.

It’s hard to image that only 5 years ago the location where the plant is currently located was underwater. What’s really incredible is that if you use a GPS system from your car when driving around the factory, you will find that your position is still marked as right in the middle of the sea!

The national government of China launched this incredible plan in 2009 in an effort to build the 2nd Shanghai Pudong in Tianjin city, known as the Tianjin Binhai New District. Binhai district covers 2,270 sq. km of land area, two times the area of Pudong in Shanghai and will be home to more than 2 million inhabitants.

In order to save land the project has been adding to the available landmass to use for construction by consuming silt deposits from the seafloor while pumping the water out. The city has embarked on this major initiative, planning to add a total area of 80 by 2012.

Transcontinental Trade and Finance Corporation, the parent company of CPG, is excited to be a part of, jointly with our partners, this impressive project that is of such a large magnitude and of great importance to the future development of Tianjin.
