Tier 1: Supplier Qualification (The Foundation)

Quality cannot be inspected into a product; it must be built in. The first tier involves verifying that your supplier has the capability and systems to produce to your standards before you place an order. This includes reviewing their quality manuals, equipment calibration records, and past performance. Choosing the right partner is the first, most critical quality gate.

Tier 2: Process Control (The Core)

Once production begins, the focus shifts to monitoring. This is the most overlooked but vital stage. It involves periodic checks during production (DUPRO) to ensure that machinery is calibrated, operators are trained, and the output remains consistent with your specifications. This is where “Silent Deviation” is caught and corrected before it becomes expensive.

Tier 3: Final Verification (The Gatekeeper)

Only after the first two tiers are in place does the final inspection (PSI) become truly effective. At this stage, you are verifying that the process was followed correctly, not trying to fix fundamental flaws. It serves as the final release gate before shipment.
