The Factory Interface
Finding the right factory makes all the difference. We look for ideal, socially conscious factories who abide by our ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) and CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) standards, and who meet the specific concerns of our clients.
Factories that are knowledgeable, professional, enthusiastic, cost-efficient, well-managed, and calibrated to fit each client’s specific needs. Once we find them, we work closely with each client to make sure the factories uphold their commitments and make products that conform to buyer requirements.
The Product Interface
When both the client and manufacturer are clear about all the details of the product, the order, and the requirements, the sourcing process will be substantially enhanced. CPG uses documents such as the Product Specification Sheet (PSS) and the Inspection Specification Sheet (ISS) to specify the buyer’s requirements and ensure that they are implemented at the factory level by making them an integral part of the purchase contract.
We have developed a quality assurance process that encompasses the above two interfaces and which includes:

Data
A key component of sourcing success depends on the management of data, and the management of details. The China team’s ability to understand and manage data details is key to providing the client with a successful and rewarding experience.
To keep those details clear, we use the following forms:
RFQ
We ask clients for the most specific information possible about the product they would like to quote including target pricing, annual quantity, first order quantity, and quality details, to help provide rapid and accurate feedback. The PSS below is also an essential document for this process.
PSS
We use a PSS to help clients manage the specifications of their product, which includes all information deemed relevant for the product, including packaging.
ISS
This document describes the specific method by which quality control in China will be done, for example: what the inspector should look for, and how the product should be tested to ensure conformity and give the client peace of mind, etc.
Each of the above documents, and the data they hold, are owned and controlled by the client, although CPG may provide templates and details for assistance. Once in place, these documents become an integral part of each client’s orders to the factory. They have to be signed by both buyer and seller to minimize the possibility of error.

CPG provides a number of inspections, including:
Factory Inspection/Qualification/Audit
From in-depth audits and due diligence to preliminary fact checking, CPG provides reports for specific tasks on specific factories. After the inspection, a full factory profile report will be delivered to
the client.
Pre-Production Inspection (PPI)
This inspection is typically performed with a new factory before the placement of an order to check the factory for quality and its ability to deliver. CPG recommends a PPI before placing any order with a new factory, especially if the goal is a long-term cooperation.
Initial-Production Inspection (IPI)
An inspection of the first few products off of the production line will reveal if any adjustments are needed before the whole order is completed. This is useful for a newly developed or customized product to ensure the order will meet all specifications.
Mid-Production Inspection (MPI)
Similar to an IPI, the Mid-Production Inspection is necessary to check up on a factory at some point during the production. This is useful when dealing with a new factory and to make sure proper production and quality assurance measures are in place and maintained.
Factory Monitoring (FM)
Factory monitoring involves a QA expert on the factory floor monitoring production. This is often required when working with new Chinese manufacturers that are producing high cost goods with costly materials. This would mitigate the risk of raw material tampering and other production risks.
Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI)
The standard Pre-Shipment Inspection involves a random sampling of a predetermined percentage of the complete order before an order is loaded and shipped. If quality issues are found that exceed tolerance, the scope of the inspection may be widened.
Full Shipment Inspection (FSI)
The Full Shipment Inspection, also known as defect sorting, involves individually inspecting every product in the order. This is useful for high priced goods or complex products in order to maintain given quality standards.
Container Loading Inspection (CLI)
The Container Loading Inspection involves a QA expert on-site during the loading of the container. This is usually combined with a PSI as an added precaution to make sure the order will not suffer any damage during the loading or shipping process.
